Privacy Awareness Week is an annual event that seeks to highlight the importance of safeguarding personal information and facilitates the negotiation of the privacy landscape by public sector organisations and the general public.
The OIC will mark Privacy Awareness Week 2023 from Monday 1 May to Sunday 7 May.
The chosen theme for Privacy Awareness Week 2023 is "Back to Basics". This theme serves as a poignant reminder for Territorians to remain vigilant in safeguarding their personal information amidst the ever-evolving technological landscape. It presents an opportunity for agencies to re-examine the fundamentals of privacy practices to ensure optimal protection of individuals’ personal information.
To celebrate Privacy Awareness Week 2023, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has developed an interactive Privacy 101 website that enables individuals to test their skills and assess the extent to which privacy fundamentals are integrated into their respective workplaces. Additional information about Privacy Awareness Week 2023 is available on the OAIC website.
