The Information Commissioner is the independent officer who oversees the Freedom of Information and Privacy provisions of the Northern Territory Information Act 2002.
As of 1 June 2026, the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner Act established the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner as an independent, broad based integrity officer for the Territory. This brings together the functions of the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, Ombudsman, Information Commissioner and the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner under one independent office.
As part of his role, the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner, Mr Peter Shoyer is the Information Commissioner for the NT.
