Privacy Awareness Week is an annual event that highlights the importance of protecting personal information and helps public sector organisations and the public negotiate the privacy landscape.
The OIC will mark Privacy Awareness Week 2022 from Monday 2 May to Sunday 8 May.
The theme for Privacy Awareness Week 2022 is ‘Privacy: The foundation of trust’. For Territorians it is a reminder to build good privacy habits, to think about information you may be sharing and asking ‘who, how, why’.
WHO has access to my information
HOW will my information be used
WHY is my information being collected.
For agencies, it is an opportunity to become educated, to provide individuals with answers to questions and also be more aware of what information needs to be collected, use the information for an agreed purpose, keep it safe, and dispose of lawfully when no longer needed. It is important to be able to build trust and provide support to the wider community.
More information about Privacy Awareness Week 2022 can be found on the OAIC Website.
